What drives the cost of a website in the UAE?

Two Dubai websites with the same number of pages can cost very different amounts. These are the main reasons.

  • Design effort. Adapting a proven layout is faster than designing every screen around your brand and customers.
  • Pages and templates. Each unique page needs design, copy and testing. Repeating templates, such as products or blog posts, cost less per page.
  • Arabic and English. A second language is not a translation plug-in. It means right-to-left layout, translated pages, and separate URLs that search engines can index.
  • Functionality. Online payments, booking, quotation forms, member logins and integrations with accounting or CRM tools add development time.
  • Content. Professional copy, photography and product data often take more effort than the build itself.
  • SEO set-up. Structure, schema, speed and Search Console are cheaper to build in than to retrofit. See what makes a website SEO-friendly.
  • Who builds it. A developer-led studio avoids hand-offs. A large agency may add account management and design layers that raise the price.

Costs that are often not in the quote

Ask about every line below so the first invoice does not surprise you.

Extras to budget for on top of the build
ExtraHow it is usually chargedNotes
Domain namePer yearA .com or .ae domain is renewed annually. Some .ae registrations have eligibility rules, so check with the registrar.
HostingMonthly or yearlyFast, stable hosting helps SEO. See how website speed affects SEO.
Content and photographyPer page or per projectUsually excluded. Original photos of your premises and products beat stock images.
Arabic versionPer languageQuoted as extra scope in most cases.
Maintenance and securityMonthly planUpdates, backups and fixes. See website maintenance.
SEOMonthly retainerSee SEO services cost in Dubai.
VATAdded to the invoiceVAT in the UAE is 5% at the time of writing and applies to most services. Check the current FTA guidance and whether a quote includes VAT.

Does mainland or free zone change the website cost?

As a general rule, no. A website is a digital product, and its price depends on scope, not on the legal structure of your company. A free-zone consultant and a mainland trading company that need the same pages and features should expect a similar build price.

Your licence type can affect other things: how you invoice, whether VAT applies, and which trade licence details must appear on the site or on tax invoices. Check those with your accountant and the current UAE authority guidance, then give us the details so they appear correctly in the footer and contact pages.

How to compare website quotes in the UAE

  1. Ask for a written scope

Pages, features, languages, revisions and exclusions should all be on paper, not implied.

  2. Check what SEO is included

Titles, schema, sitemap, speed and Search Console set-up should be named. We include Google Search Console set-up with every website.

  3. Ask who writes the code

Speak to the developer, not just a salesperson. A short call shows whether they understand your business.

  4. Confirm who owns what

Domain, hosting accounts, source files and design assets should be clearly stated in the quote. Ask for it in writing.

  5. Price the scope, not the headline

A very low figure often means a lightly modified template and no search work. A very high one may include layers you do not need.

How much should a small UAE business spend?

Spend in line with the job the site has to do. If customers mainly phone or message you on WhatsApp, a starter site with clear service pages, a map and a click-to-chat button can be enough. If you want to win Google traffic for Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi searches, a business website with service pages and a blog is a better fit. If you sell products online, plan for e-commerce from the start.

Whatever the size, plan for being found. A site nobody can find is an expensive brochure. Read our guide on local SEO for Dubai and see how our Dubai and UAE pages describe the services we offer there. If you need an app rather than a website, see how much app development costs in the UAE.

Website cost in Dubai and the UAE: common questions

How much does a website cost in Dubai?

Our starter site begins at AED 1,000, a business website at AED 2,000 and an e-commerce store at AED 4,000. Final cost depends on pages, features, languages and content, and is fixed in a written quote.

Is VAT added to website development in the UAE?

Generally yes, VAT in the UAE is 5% at the time of writing and applies to most services. Confirm the current FTA guidance with your accountant, and check whether a quote is inclusive or exclusive of VAT.

Are domain and hosting included?

Usually not. They are yearly or monthly costs paid on top of the build. Our published prices exclude them, so ask for them to be listed in your quote.

Does an Arabic website cost more?

Yes, in most cases, because it needs translated content, right-to-left design and separate indexable pages. Our business package can be set up Arabic or multi-language ready on request.

Is a free-zone website cheaper than a mainland one?

No. Website cost depends on scope, not on your licence type. Licence details only affect what information should appear on the site and on invoices.

Can I update the website myself after launch?

That depends on how it is built. A hand-built static site needs a developer for changes, while a site on a headless CMS can be edited by your team. Say which you need so it is scoped in the quote.

Will my new website rank on Google?

A well-built site gives you a strong start, but nobody can guarantee rankings. Search Console set-up, clean structure and good content help, and ongoing SEO builds results over time.
